Meet Lisa Shufro

Lisa offers Awareness Through Movement® sessions, a mindfulness-based approach to moving with ease, increased flexibility, and reduced pain and stress.

The subtle technique was developed by a Russian scientist named Moshe Feldenkrais. It draws from many modalities including martial arts, physics, Rolfing, the Alexander Technique, neuroscience, and psychology.

Lisa has been a classical violinist since she was a toddler. She discovered the Method while recovering from serious injuries caused by poor posture and a “no pain no gain” mindset. But she soon realized she was learning more than good body mechanics. She began a holistic life practice that would rocket her personal growth and wellbeing.

“Awareness heals,” says Lisa, “As you tune into yourself with clarity, sensitivity and kindness, you transform your relationship to “You,” to your world, and to others. I use movement as a gateway to inspire greater self-awareness and nurture new possibilities of being.”

Lisa trained with original students of Dr. Feldenkrais, and is on the faculty of the Feldenkrais Institute of New York City. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Yale University.
